FAQ

How do you get a flying dinosaur in Prehistoric Farm?
Complete Clara's Sky Egg quest at Sky Spires (added in Update 1): deliver 20 urchin fish, complete 70 digs on Triassic Island and pay 10,000 coins to receive a sky egg. Per walkthrough footage the egg carries about a 5% chance at the best legendary flyer, and the quest is repeatable.
What do you need for the Sky Spires quest?
Three things per the walkthrough: at least a Silver shovel (the Triassic dig stage is shovel-gated), a fishing rod with bait (for the urchin fish stage), and 10,000 coins for the egg itself. See the shovel tier list for Silver shovel pricing.
Where is Sky Spires in Prehistoric Farm?
Past the auction island — sail toward it on the compass, then follow the line of buoys behind it until the Sky Spires island with Clara's stand comes into view. The route is documented in walkthrough footage rather than any official map.
Can flying dinosaurs replace boats?
Largely yes — a flyer crosses open water over the top, which is why one playthrough's take was 'why even need a boat when you can just fly?'. Boats still matter early, and the aquatic mounts from codes cover the sea separately (see the riding guide).
Which flying dinosaur is the best?
The walkthrough footage treats the 5% legendary result as the best flyer currently documented — the creator's landed at adult, normal size, 257 kg. Beyond that single data point no flyer stat table exists on record; we will extend this as footage accumulates.

How do you unlock flying dinosaurs in Prehistoric Farm?

Flying dinosaurs shipped with Update 1 (October 11-12, per our update log) and they come from exactly one place: the Sky Spires quest line, tracked in-game as Clara’s Sky Egg. It is a fetch-and-pay quest — fish, dig, pay — and every stage of it is documented in walkthrough footage, which this page follows step by step.

The payoff is a mount that ignores water entirely: hop on, take off, and cross to islands over the top of the ocean — one playthrough that ran into another player’s flyer summed it up as “Why even need a boat when you can just fly?” (credited below).

What do you need before starting the quest?

Three requirements, per the walkthrough:

  1. A Silver shovel or better — the second quest stage sends you digging on Triassic Island, and Triassic dig areas are shovel-gated (the full unlock ladder is in the shovel guide).
  2. A fishing rod plus bait — the first stage is a fishing errand; our fishing guide covers buying the rod and working the reel.
  3. 10,000 coins — the egg itself is paid at the end. The active codes batch covers this several times over.

Where is Sky Spires and who is Clara?

Sail toward the auction island (checkable on the top-center compass), then keep going — a line of buoys stretches onward from behind it, and following the buoys brings the Sky Spires island into view. There sits Clara the Adventurer under a hand-painted sign that says everything about her business: “SKY EGGS handle with care!”

Talk to her to register Clara’s Sky Egg as your active quest — the tracker then rides your screen through every remaining stage.

How do you buy bait from Tyler the Fisher?

The first errand sends you home. Tyler the Fisher — the same vendor who sells the 150-coin rod — stands at his tackle stall on the home island dock, and his dialog is where quest bait comes from: Buy Bait sits at the top of his options.

The bait is sold in stacks with a hard cap of 15 at a time — Tyler confirms your stock on screen (“your bait (15/15)”), and the walkthrough notes you may need to top up more than once for the full fish quota. His tackle menu lists it as Urchin Bait, which tells you exactly what it is for.

How do you catch the urchin fish?

With rod and bait ready, cast off any dock or shore and fish for urchin fish — the quota is 20. The fishing itself is Prehistoric Farm’s standard minigame (steer the sinking hook into fish, reel with the multiplier meter), so if the catches feel off, the technique section of our fishing guide fixes that fast. The quest’s catch cards make progress obvious at a glance.

What are the Triassic digs for?

After the fish delivery, Clara’s next stage sends you to Triassic Island: dig 70 times on its red-rock terrain. This is why the Silver shovel is on the requirements list — Triassic dig areas will not work without it, and the walkthrough takes the buoy-line route straight from Sky Spires to get there.

The digs themselves are plain digging — the walkthrough’s own run is ordinary swings counted toward the 70 — but better release timing never hurts your fossil income on the side (the digging guide covers the technique). Seventy swings is a short session, and the island’s dig sites sit close together along the shore.

What do you get from the Sky Egg?

Hand everything in, pay the 10,000 coins, and Clara produces a sky egg. The odds, per the walkthrough: about a 5% chance at the best legendary flyer, with the quest repeatable for as many retries as your coin pile survives — the creator of the footage landed the legendary on his first try and still calls the quest “really annoying” enough to skip reruns.

His landed legendary: adult, normal size, 257 kg — the only flyer stat line on record. What the egg incubates into follows the standard pipeline in our egg incubation guide, and once grown, flyers ride like any other mount (the riding guide covers growth stages and mounting). Deciding which roll is worth a rerun — and what each retry costs — is the best flyer guide’s beat.

Is a flying dinosaur worth the grind?

The honest cost sheet: one Silver shovel you probably want anyway, a 150-coin rod, bait, 70 quick digs and 10,000 coins. The return is the only mount in the game that crosses islands over the water — no boat launches, no sailing downtime, and the sea threats (the islands guide maps them) stop mattering on the routes you fly. For roster context on what else Update 1 added, see the dinosaur list and the best dinosaurs ranking; and if egg-theft riches are your next target, the Sunken Grotto guide covers the other way to get an egg nobody dug up.

Sources and footage credits

Every screenshot and quest step on this page comes from one public walkthrough video — all footage rights belong to its creator:

The “why need a boat” quote comes from Froogyclips’ Is Prehistoric Farm Actually The Best Roblox Game?! second-episode playthrough, when its creator raced a stranger’s flyer across open water (t=12:08).

Counts and prices quoted from the walkthrough’s narration (20 fish, 70 digs, 10,000 coins, ~5% legendary) are caption-sourced rather than confirmed by official patch notes — Update 1 shipped without them. If a future patch changes the quest, our update log is where the change lands first.
