What is the Albino Rex in Prehistoric Farm?
The Albino Rex is the game’s white hybrid: a cross between a T-Rex and a Velociraptor, merged into one dinosaur at the Mutation Lab. Many players call it the Indominus Rex or “albino T-Rex” — one full tutorial is titled that way — and it is a different animal from Raptor X, the Indoraptor-style boss that needs an Albino Rex as a quest sacrifice (more on that below). The current model is huge, and its latest redesign added red battle scars along its side, per the tutorial footage (see the scars up close). Where it sits after the October rarity relabel is covered at the end of this page; for the wider roster see the dinosaur list and the S-tier picks in best dinosaurs.

Where is the Mutation Lab?
The lab stands on Chalk Island — the same island that hosts Dr. Ivy’s DNA machine. You can reach it by boat or by air: the walkthrough flies over on a flying mount, and our flying dinosaurs guide covers the setup. Once you land, the building is hard to miss — a blue-roofed hall with MUTATION LAB written across the top and a hazard-striped containment door at the back, where merged results come out.

Inside, a chalkboard spells out the rules of the merge — and the note that matters most is that both ingredients must be adults (see the board).

Which two dinosaurs make the Albino Rex?
The recipe is an adult T-Rex plus an adult Velociraptor — both tutorials agree on the pair, and the lab’s own menu confirms it, listing the two species as ingredients under the Albino Rex card. Rarity-wise the parts are a Legendary (T-Rex) and an Unusual (Velociraptor), per the tutorial footage — and Unusual is genuinely hard to dig up, because the Cretaceous period holds 20 different fossils that dilute every dig.

Getting both dinosaurs is its own mini-grind:
- You need a titanium shovel first. Per the walkthrough, it is the prerequisite for digging the T-Rex and Velociraptor fossils — where it sits in the tool ladder is covered in the digging guide.
- Dig until both species drop. The rubble-by-rubble loop is shown on camera, and while a fossil is partially uncovered its name appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen, so you always know what you are breaking.
- Hatch what you dig. Fossils become dinosaurs through the DNA route covered in the DNA guide, and the hatch timers are in the egg incubation guide.
- Or skip the grind at the auction island. Most players buy an adult T-Rex and Velociraptor there, because bought dinosaurs are already adults — a T-Rex reportedly takes several real-time hours to mature on its own, while a raptor grows quickly (per the walkthrough). Growth potions from the October update speed raising up considerably — see the potions and clans guide.
- Nest luck exists but is not a plan. A ranch nest can randomly roll the T-Rex or Velociraptor species, but the tutorial had never seen a T-Rex nest on camera — an Albertosaurus roll is the realistic default.

How do you merge the dinosaurs at the lab?
Talk to the NPC at the lab counter and open the merge menu — the two tutorials’ captions render the button as “connect” or “merge dinosaurs” (auto-captioned), but the flow is the same: select your adult T-Rex, select your adult Velociraptor, and confirm. The price is 150,000 coins per merge, per the tutorial footage — the menu shows the bill before you commit (see the merge menu). The lab then takes over for a 20-minute wait, cross-checked across both tutorials (see the merge click). That bill makes this one of the game’s big money sinks; our money guide covers the income routes that fund it.
What do you get after the 20-minute wait?
A cutscene: the containment door opens and the new rex steps into its chamber, name tag and all (see the reveal).

The best part is what you do not get: a newborn. The result comes out fully grown, so there is no raising phase — you can ride it or put it straight on the ranch. What is random is the size roll: the tutorial’s own merge produced a “tiny” roll that still towered over the player, so even a bad roll lands you something enormous (per footage).

Is the Albino Rex worth 150,000 coins?
For most goals, yes — with one caveat about where it now sits. Since the October 2026 potion update, the Albino Rex is listed under its own Mutation rarity label rather than as Mythical, per the update footage (see the rarity labels); the Mythic tier is now reserved for the “True” real-dinosaur line.
What it is still good for:
- Money. The tutorial parks the result on the ranch because it “brings in a lot of money” — one of the stronger earners you can merge rather than hatch.
- The Raptor X line. Dr. Ivy’s third key quest asks for one Albino Rex plus three Velociraptors as sacrifice — the Albino Rex is the expensive part of that build. The full quest chain, boss fight and drop rates are in the Raptor X guide.
- The flex. A white, scarred rex the size of a building is one of the most recognizable mounts in the game — see how the tiers shake out in best dinosaurs.
The honest cost note: 150,000 coins plus two adult ingredients per attempt, and the random size roll means a “perfect” result may take more than one merge.
