FAQ

How do you get the Raptor X in Prehistoric Farm?
Complete Dr. Ivy's three quests on Blackgate Island to earn the cage key: fish up five Raptor X Remnants, collect five Rock Fragments from the Mosasaurus boss, then sacrifice one Albino Rex and three Velociraptors. The key opens the X-shaped cage, and each Raptor X kill has a 0.5% egg drop with a guaranteed egg at 50 kills (pity).
Where is the Raptor X boss located?
On Blackgate Island, east of the map — the island is noticeably darker than the rest, and the boss waits in an X-shaped cage behind the Blackgate building. A walkthrough video shows the in-game sign reading BLACKGATE; travel there by boat, by swimming or by flying dinosaur.
What are the Raptor X boss drop chances?
Per kill: about 1% for the Forgotten Shovel and 0.5% for the Raptor X egg, per update-footage narration. Pity counters guarantee a shovel by 30 kills and an egg by 50 kills, and finishing the fight within about 3.5 minutes adds a reported +20% luck bonus. The counters are visible at the top of the screen during the fight.
How many Raptor X Remnants do you need, and where do you get them?
Five. Remnants come only from fishing — roughly a 1-in-100 catch per footage testing, which took one player about two hours. The active UPDATE1 code also includes one Raptor X Remnant, so redeem it on our codes page before you start fishing.
What does the Forgotten Shovel do?
It is the shovel required to dig on the new Late Cretaceous island from Update 1, which holds five 'real dinosaur' fossil species (about 1 in 2,000 per fossil at release, per update footage). The shovel drops from Raptor X at about 1% per kill, with a pity guarantee by 30 kills.
Is Raptor X the same as the Albino Rex?
No — they are different dinosaurs. The Albino Rex is a hybrid created at the Mutation Lab on Chalk Island from an adult T-Rex plus an adult Velociraptor and 150,000 coins. You need an Albino Rex to complete the final key quest, and players commonly call the Raptor X itself an 'Indoraptor'.

What is the Raptor X in Prehistoric Farm?

Raptor X is the headline boss of Update 1 (October 11-12, 2026): an Indoraptor-style dinosaur kept locked in a dark, X-shaped cage on Blackgate Island. You cannot dig it up or hatch it from a normal egg — the only route in is a key earned through three quests, and the only route to the dinosaur itself is the boss’s egg drop. No official patch notes exist for the update, so everything on this page comes from gameplay footage, cross-checked between creators wherever possible.

The community almost universally calls it the Indoraptor — one full quest guide is literally titled that way — and the first big update video shows the model up close: a small raptor with scars on its nose and side and a loud roar. Compared with T-Rex-class dinosaurs it is genuinely small, which you can see clearly when one is defeated next to a grown hybrid. For where it sits in the wider roster, see the dinosaur list and the S-tier placement in best dinosaurs.

Where is the Raptor X boss located?

Blackgate Island sits east of the map — one walkthrough flies there on a flying dinosaur, aiming past the first eastern map marker, and warns that the island is noticeably darker than the rest of the game. You can also reach it by boat, or even by swimming. The boss’s cage stands behind the Blackgate building, where eyes peek out of the dark and written signage teases that the raptor is still inside. Flying mounts make the trip fastest — the setup is in our flying dinosaurs guide.

How do you get the key to the Raptor X cage?

Dr. Ivy waits on Blackgate Island with three quests. Complete all three and she hands over the key to the cage — and per two separate videos, the key is not consumed: it stays with you for unlimited summoning until you get everything you want from the boss.

Quest 1 — five Raptor X Remnants, caught by fishing. Remnants come only from the fishing minigame, not from digging: the catch card shows raptor remains instead of a fish. One walkthrough measured the odds at roughly 1 in 100 per catch and reported the grind took about two hours of fishing. Our fishing guide covers the minigame itself. Shortcut: the active UPDATE1 code includes one Raptor X Remnant among its rewards — grab it on the codes page before you start.

Quest 2 — five Rock Fragments from the Mosasaurus. The ocean boss drops the fragments, and it spawns about once per in-game hour, so this step takes at least five boss cycles. How the fight itself works is in the Mosasaurus boss guide.

Quest 3 — the sacrifice. Hand over one Albino Rex plus three Velociraptors at the altar. The walkthroughs used freshly hatched Velociraptors, and one video suggests even newborns may count; the Albino Rex is the expensive part.

Getting the Albino Rex for the third quest

The Albino Rex is a hybrid made at the Mutation Lab on Chalk Island: an adult T-Rex plus an adult Velociraptor, 150,000 coins, and a 20-minute wait. The result comes out grown (no raising needed), though its size roll varies — one tutorial produced a “tiny” that was still visibly huge. That 150,000-coin bill makes this quest the real money sink of the line; our money guide covers the income routes, and the DNA guide explains converting raptor fossils into the eggs you’ll hatch for the sacrifice. For the lab’s location, the ingredient grind and the full cost breakdown, see the Albino Rex guide.

How does the Raptor X boss fight work?

Insert the key at the cage and the fight opens. The documented rules:

  • Summon cooldown: the cage can be opened every 5 minutes — three separate videos agree on this.
  • Health: about 6,000 HP when fought solo, and the boss gains health as more players join; a group fight on record showed a 13.8k bar. A solo kill took one strong player around 30-40 seconds.
  • Threat level: low. One creator facetanked the fight at nearly full health without dodging, and the same walkthrough calls the boss weak compared with the Mosasaurus.
  • Speed bonus: finishing within roughly 3.5 minutes grants a reported +20% drop-rate bonus — trivial to hit solo, relevant for big groups.
  • Co-op stacking: each player who damages the boss adds +10% drop chance for everyone, dropping to +2.5% per player after the fifth (per the update breakdown video).

What are the Raptor X drop chances?

Per kill, the boss can drop two things: the Forgotten Shovel at about 1% and the Raptor X egg at about 0.5%. If luck runs dry, pity kicks in — the counters shown at the top of the screen during the fight guarantee a shovel by 30 kills and an egg by 50 kills. One update video shows the counter UI mid-grind reading 9/30 and 24/50. The egg follows the game’s normal raise-and-ride pipeline from the beginner guide and the hatch timers in the egg incubation guide — though no source has yet documented the hatchling’s growth specifics. One addition from late October: a rarity relabel in the potions update now lists Raptor X itself as Exotic — see the potions and clans guide.

What does the Forgotten Shovel drop unlock?

The shovel is not a stat upgrade — it is access. Per the update footage, the Forgotten Shovel is required to dig on Update 1’s new Late Cretaceous island, which carries five “real dinosaur” fossil species (improved versions of existing animals, including a Real Argentinosaurus shown on camera) at about 1 in 2,000 per fossil at release; a later October video reports those odds were raised to 0.5% (1 in 200). The hardest title in the game requires collecting all five. Where this shovel sits in the tool chain is tracked in the shovel guide, and the full update context is in the update log.

Is the Raptor X worth the grind?

As a chase goal, yes — it is the defining content of Update 1, and the mythic tier it feeds into is where the reported numbers jump: community-measured damage puts legendaries at 60 per hit (210 special) and mythics at 90 (315 special), and equipped pets multiply dig luck up to a reported 1.8x for a mythic. Those are video-reported figures, not official ones — no published stat table exists yet.

The honest caveat is the front-loaded cost: an Albino Rex recipe at 150,000 coins, five boss-killing Mosasaurus cycles on an hourly spawn, and up to two hours of remnant fishing before your first fight — then a median wait of many fights for the 0.5% egg unless pity carries you to 50 kills. As a pure money play, a working herd beats a trophy raptor early on; as the game’s current endgame flex, Raptor X is the line to grind.
